First: What does focus mean? We know this word from areas like photography, meditation, war and economics. Our intention is to limit our attention to just one point. It should be that simple.
At a time when our attention is repeatedly drawn to thousands of advertisements, notifications and external signals, focus seems impossible. Nevertheless, we need it to reach our goals faster.
If we could not focus with our eyes, we would see blurred objects. The same happens in the other areas. Without focus you end up somewhere. It can be an enriching experience if you want to be surprised. But in most cases it’s different. We already have a wish, a goal: to find a new job, become a better manager, find the ideal place to live and so on. It is always disappointing when you have not achieved your goals, even if those goals are unconscious. That’s where focus is important.
- What do I want to focus on?
- What is important to me?
- Above all: Why don’t I want to have a focus in my life?
- What prevents me from doing this?
- Does it matter to me not to strand somewhere?
Focus does not mean success. But it helps to approach our goal. If you are focused, then you have a better idea of how to proceed.
